I checked out some of the major morning shows today and it is absolutely insane the way they avoided and/or tried to diminish the April 15th tea party coverage. Think about the news stations you watch and wonder why they choose to cover it the way they do.

Are the tea parties a story?

What is the story about?

How big were the protests?

What exactly are they protesting?

This is a great place to find out more:

All big media stations will cover the story because it is such a huge story. However, pay attention to how they cover it. How accurately are they conveying the size and significance of what took place. How accurately are they portraying the reasons why people attended the protests? Are they trying to make it about something it is not? Why might media stations do this?

Was it news? Sure was it as much news as FOX made it out to be? No.

Maybe Fox News made a bigger story out of it than it was. However, I think Fox News was more accurate on the reality of the story when compared to CNN and NBC. Regardless, the fact is hundreds of thousands of people went out at hundreds of locations across the country to protest things like excessive government spending. It is a huge story. The tea party story is a lot bigger than things like the Octomom and sadly enough I think Fox News covered the Octomom story more than the tea parties.

Thats because we have little to no "news" stations anymore. We have infotainment networks. CNN headline news does an ok job of covering mainly news but alas they still have to sell soap and draw viewers.

I can agree FOXs coverage was way more friendly to the events taking place and MSnbcs coverage allthough funny, it didnt belong on a news channel but comedy central. John Stewart had a great line saying that MSNBC has become the daily show..

I support my fellow Americans in their struggle to get what they want from government. I just wonder why they didnt do this years ago when this all started... It kind of makes it seem less ginuwine..

Tax Day protests are not new.
The organizer in my hometown has done them before.
Less people seemed to care when the stock market was at an all-time high & 95% of Americans were working.
But now that unemployment seems to be going up every week & the stock market has depleted many 401Ks we have more folks paying attention.
On top of that we have Bush spending on steroids & no one really knows where we're headed in regards to taxes.
It just seems unlikely that any of us will really see a tax cut once you add in cap & trade & any other fee that's really a tax we don't yet know about coming down the pike.

I watched only a few minutes of the coverage on Fox and got disgusted with the whole topic. I didn’t see or hear anything constructive. Within minutes I could see this was a republican base and there trying to change a democratic administration with old school thinking and complaining. The reasons behind it all are good but could that be the reason for the crappy coverage?

I saw a long speech on MSNBC by Sarah Palin at the latest tea party convention. They are getting some coverage now.

I watched fox, MSNBC and CNN and I agree she is getting coverage. I don't know how many feel its good coverage. Her lack of political skill stands out. It was obvious she was put in the spot light during the election because the republicans were in a panic. Sex sells isn't the method they should have tried. Once again, were not all ignorant. She continues to show she lacks knowledge in many areas. If I were part of the party, I'd be embarrassed to push her towards 2012.
